Snoop Dogg Takes On Paris As Olympics Torch Bearer
It's an opportunity he never imagined. Snoop Dogg will be one of the final torch bearers of the Olympic flame ahead of the Games' opening ceremony on Friday, carrying the torch in the Parisian suburb of Saint-Denis.
“I look at this as a prestigious honor and something I truly respect. I would have never dreamed of nothing like this. I’m going to be on my best behavior. I’m going to be on my best athleticism. I’ll be able to breathe slow to walk fast and hold the torch with a smile on my face, because I realize how prestigious this event is.”
Along with his torch-bearing duties, Snoop Dogg will serve as a prime-time NBC correspondent during the Games. He'll be on the ground exploring the city’s landmarks and attending competitions and events. “I’m going to show you why they made me the man to do it,” he said. “I’m going to put all of my resources and energy around it with peace, love and harmony. That’s what the Olympics is all about. I feel like that’s why they chose me. That’s what I represent.”
Your Sneak Peek At The 2024 Olympics Opening Ceremony
Set to be the first Olympic Games Opening Ceremony held outside a stadium, the 26 July celebration will transform the French capital into a stadium and theatre as the traditional parade of athletes takes place in boats along the Seine, passing the most iconic Parisian landmarks.
The opening ceremony will take place July 26, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Paris time (1:30 p.m. ET). As opposed to parading through a stadium, several thousand Olympic athletes will sail along the Seine River, passing by some of Paris' most historic monuments and iconic landmarks, while hundreds of thousands of spectators look on.
The parade will begin under the Austerlitz bridge beside the Jardin des Plantes at 1:30 p.m. ET and follow a 3.7-mile-long route near some of the city's most famous landmarks — like Notre-Dame, the Louvre and more — before concluding at the Trocadero.
The Trocadero is an esplanade that lies across from the Eiffel Tower. The area, which was built for the 1878 World's Fair, comprises a series of gardens and museums, as well as a palace, and offers a unique and unobstructed view of the Eiffel Tower.
Here, among other ceremonial procedures, French president Emmanuel Macron will deliver his opening remarks and the Olympic cauldron will be lit, signaling the official beginning of the 2024 Olympic Games.
Directed by French Director Thomas Jolly, the ceremony is set to coincide with the setting of the sun, providing a spectacle for both in-person spectators and television viewers. On top of the 10,500 athletes who will participate in the parade, 3,000 dancers, artists and athletes will be featured between the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for the Paris Olympics and Paralympics, each with a specially-designed costume made by Daphne Burki.

Celine Dion & Lady Gaga To Perform Together In Opening Ceremony
We can put the speculation to rest. Celine Dion and Lady Gaga will perform Édith Piaf’s classic “La Vie en Rose” at the Olympics’ opening ceremony in Paris on Friday. Sightings of the pair in Paris in recent days had sparked intense speculation that the stars might perform at the opening ceremony.
French radio station RTL reported that Celine had landed in a private jet at Le Bourget airport on the outskirts of Paris on Monday evening and was due to spend Tuesday afternoon at a fitting at the Dior fashion house.
The reports followed sightings of Lady Gaga on Monday, including social media images showing her standing by a piano on floating platform on the Seine.
