Dua Lipa’s Secret Coke Drink Recipe Goes Viral - What Should We Call It?
Over the weekend, Dua Lipa played a headlining set at Austin City Limits Music Festival. What else did the “Training Season” singer get up to while visiting the Texas capital? She went line dancing at Broken Spoke, shopped for cowboy boots, and shared one of her favorite special beverage recipes using Diet Coke.
While dining at La Barbecue (the best barbecue in Austin, BTW), Dua poured a can of Diet Coke into a cup of ice. So far, so good. But then came the pickle juice, pickles, and jalapeño juice. Yup! How much of each? We don’t quite know, but guess it’s “to taste.” The unholy concoction was shared on TikTok, and even Lipa had to admit that the drink isn’t everyone’s cup of tea (or Diet Coke, as it were).
If you’re willing to go the distance, here’s how we’re guessing is its recipe:
• 1 large cup of ice (16 oz cup)
• 1 can Diet Coke
• 3 to 4 Tablespoons sweet pickle juice
• 1 teaspooon hot jalapeno juice
• Garnish with sweet pickles

Recovery efforts continue in the mountains of western NC & eastern TN. The biggest question being asked is: HOW CAN I HELP?
The biggest way you can help is with your tax deductible donation given to these organizations directly supporting the Teams who have feet on the ground. These amazing people are doing the actual air drops and coordinating distribution of food, water, medicines, baby formula and more to those who still haven’t yet been reached. Samaritan’s Purse is responding in five locations across four states after Hurricane Helene devastated parts of the Southeast.
Helene tore through western North Carolina, dumping extreme rainfall—more than 2 feet in some areas—and causing terrible flash flooding. Some parts of the region are in ruins. We are providing relief in the mountains of Watauga County, North Carolina—home to Samaritan’s Purse international headquarters in the town of Boone. The town and surrounding communities have been particularly hard-hit with toppled trees, flooding, road damage, and a lack of power and water. This response extends to include neighboring counties in North Carolina (Ashe, Avery) and eastern Tennessee (Johnson), and our church base is Alliance Bible Fellowship in Boone.
Samaritan’s Purse is also responding to some of the many medical needs in western North Carolina. We have deployed a 20-bed Emergency Field Hospital—designed as an emergency room triage unit—at Cannon Memorial Hospital in the town of Linville (Avery County). The facility, requested by the Appalachian Regional Health System/UNC Health System, is staffed by our Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) medical personnel. Search-and-rescue teams are scouring Avery County and expect an influx of injured people. We are also providing oxygen at different locations to support those who have power at home.
Many communities in the High Country of North Carolina and far eastern Tennessee are cut off by damaged roads, downed trees, and flooding. Samaritan’s Purse is coordinating air relief to some of these locations—delivering basic necessities to those in dire straits using our own helicopter as well as the aircraft of other organizations. We are working through various local contacts, including our Operation Christmas Child partner churches, to identify those who are suffering and then to respond as requested. We praise God we have been able to deliver much food, water, and other relief to those isolated by the storm.
We are helping the victims of Hurricane Helene. American citizens in our nation are going through unimaginable hardships and desperately need help. We are delivering supplies directly where they are needed.
We are partnering with Rep. Cory Mills to secure at least two helicopters and deliver baby supplies, personal hygiene products, diapers, paper towels, and non-perishable food to North Carolina. We are working around the clock with our partners to serve North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, South Carolina, Appalachia, and others.

Eric Church Steps Up In Home State Of North Carolina’s “Darkest Hour”
Country music singer-songwriter Eric Church is giving back to his home state of North Carolina in the wake of the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Helene. In an Instagram post Oct. 3, the country star announced that he will sign over ownership and all publishing royalties from the release of his new song “Darkest Hour” to the state relief effort. The song made its debut Friday night, October 4th.
In addition to the song royalties, Church’s The Chief Cares Fund is directing its charitable efforts to the people who were directly impacted by the hurricane, including South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida.
Eric shared, “From Western North Carolina, East Tennessee, Upstate South Carolina, parts of Georgia and even Florida which took a direct hit, there are so many places that were impacted. Specifically in the area that I'm from, the mountains of Western North Carolina were devastated. There are places that are just biblically gone. These are our family members, they're our friends, they're our neighbors – and they're in dire need of help,” reflects Church.
“And I've been in the studio for a while, trying some different things and exploring creativity. I had this song that I'd written, and the line that struck me in light of the recent devastation was ‘I'll come running,’ because there are a lot of people out there right now who are in their darkest hour and they need people to come running. We were going to wait to release music until next year, but it just didn't feel right to wait with this song. Sometimes you give songs their moment and sometimes they find their own moment.
This song, ‘Darkest Hour,’ was the best way I could think to try to help. We've been helping with boots on the ground efforts, but this is something that will live beyond just the immediate recovery. This is not a quick thing to fix, so hopefully ‘Darkest Hour’ will be able to contribute to that for a long time to come. This song goes to my home, North Carolina, now and forever.”

“The message of the song specifically in this time is about Hurricane Helene and the people that need help, but in a broader view, it's about any challenging times that we have in our life, which we'll all have. And it's always important to know that in your darkest hour, there are people that will come running, there are people that will help. And I think it's also important to be one of the people that go running when other people need help.”
Dolly Parton Spearheads Massive $5 Million Dollar Hurricane Helene Relief Donations
A longtime good friend of the RICK DEES WEEKLY TOP 40, Dolly Parton has spearheaded a massive donation to Hurricane Helene relief efforts, teaming up with Walmart to donate more than $5 million dollars to various charity organizations.
The country singer herself is personally donating $1 million, while her various business ventures, including Dollywood Parks & Resorts, Dolly Parton’s Stampede and Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show, as well as the Dollywood Foundation have pledged an additional $1 million. The money will go to the Mountain Ways Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to providing immediate assistance to Hurricane Helene flood victims.
Meanwhile, Walmart, which previously committed $6 million to hurricane relief efforts, announced it would be contributing an additional $4 million.
Parton announced her donation during at a press conference held at a Walmart in Newport, Tennessee on Thursday (via Knoxville News Sentinel). The singer grew up in nearby Pittman Center, Tennessee, and she spoke about her emotional connection to the area.
“I am totally with you because I am part of you,” Parton said. “These are special people here; they’re my people. I feel like all people are my people, but everyone here grew up in the mountains just like I did, so of course, I have a close connection to them,” Parton said at the event. “I can’t stand to see anyone hurting, so I wanted to do what I could to help after these terrible floods. I hope we can all be a little light in the world for our friends, our neighbors — even strangers — during this dark time they are experiencing.”
“One of the things we love most about Dolly as a partner is her incredible heart and care for her community,” added John Furner, president and CEO, Walmart U.S. “She reminds me of our associates who are always the first to jump to action when our communities need us. This time is no different, and we will continue to provide support until they have recovered.”
Beyond the financial assistance, Parton’s Dollywood has donated a semi-truck full of water, 60,000 reusable masks, 30,000 disposable protective garments, and 2.5 million disposable masks for cleanup efforts across East Tennessee. The theme park has also become a drop-off location for people who wish to donate cleanup supplies, clothes, personal hygiene items, and other personal necessities.
